Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Community hosted the 2007 CCS Religious Emblems Retreat on Saturday, December 2. Bishop Michael Jarrell (pictured above) opens the well-attended event with the celebration of the Holy Mass an explanation of the Mass and his vestments as Spiritual Shepard of the Diocese of Lafayette. Bishop Michael Jarrell, a former Boy Scout, was presented a embroidered stole vestment for his strong support of Catholic Scouting ministry to youth. Religious Emblems "Duty to God" Retreat is held annually for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to get a jumpstart on thier National or Diocesan age-specific Religious Emblem. The Evangeline Area Council Knight Scout Center renovation was dedicated on April 2nd, 2008 with a public ribbon cutting and blessing by Deacon Randy Hyde, St. Edmond Catholic Community. Deacon Hyde asked for God's blessing on the walls and foundation, leadership and our youth who will become our future leaders through Scouting. 2007 Adult Award Nominees are congratulated for their service under Catholic auspices.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, Lafayette Diocesan CCS Chaplain, celebrates Palm Sunday anticipated Mass for over 175 Scouts and Scouters at the 2007 Camporee held at Camp Thistlewaite in St. Landry Parish. Our Catholic Scouts & Scouters were served with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Winter Camp '06 to emphasize their Duty to God
Father Eugene Tremie, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Ville Platte, graciously accepted CCS's invitation to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to over 250 Scouts and Scouters at the 2006 Mt. Bayou Winter Camp.
