Bishop Michael Jarrel receives Higest Honor in Scouting

Bishop Jarrell North Star Award

Bishop Michael Jarrell received the National Boy Scout's highest honor,

The North Star Award

for a non-registered citizen who has promoted and supported Scouting in his career.

Bishop Jarrell was a former Boy Scout, and was honored at the 2014 St. George Mass

for Adult Awards to Scouters who have worked diligently in promoting their Duty to God,

Duty to Country, Duty to others, and Duty to self. Congratulations, Bishop Jarrell on this great honor!

 

Bishop Michael Jarrell opens the 2007 CCS Retreat

Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Community hosts the CCS Religious Emblems Retreat on the first Saturday of December. Bishop Michael Jarrell (pictured above) opens the well-attended event with the celebration of the Holy Mass an explanation of the Mass and his vestments as Spiritual Shepard of the Diocese of Lafayette. Bishop Michael Jarrell, a former Boy Scout, was presented a embroidered stole vestment for his strong support of Catholic Scouting ministry to youth.

Camporee Palm Sunday Mass

Fr. Gary Schexnayder, Chaplain for the Lafayette Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting, celebrates a Palm Sunday anticipated Mass for over 175 Scouts and Scouters at Camporee held at Camp Thistlewaite in St. Landry Parish. The Mass was preceeded by the traditional blessing of palms harvested from campground Palmettos.

Our Catholic Scouts & Scouters were served with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at Winter Camp to fulfill their Duty to God

Father Eugene Tremie, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Ville Platte, graciously accepted CCS's invitation to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to over 250 Scouts and Scouters at Mt. Bayou Winter Camp.  Our sincere gratitude for his and other Diocesan Priest service in promoting our "Duty to God".
